Purpose of Unit
In this unit, we will learn what chemistry is and what it is not. We will learn about the materials that shape our experiences and begin to recognize chemistry in our lives all around us - not just in the classroom. This unit is simply a foundational classifying of all things chemistry. Making measurements is the major focus in the lab work for this unit. Habits are set up for safety, lab write-ups, and problem-based, process-oriented learning. There is a short review of pertinent math skills including scientific notation, significant figures, and metric conversions - yay!
